Ochsner Golf Maxi Plus – Model GMLW 12 Plus VX – generating heat and hot water for this 160sqm new build…
The owner of this low energy 160sqm self build project in Angus, Scotland was keen to secure a highly efficient and low carbon heating system without the need for the extensive ground works associated with ground source heat pumps nor regular fuel deliveries that biomass entails. Having calculated the design heat load at -4C to be 10.5kW Glendevon Energy recommended an Ochsner GMLW 14 Air Source Heat Pump.
This is a “Split” heat pump with the highly efficient horizontal evaporator unit outside and compressor unit inside with refrigerant pipework run between the two. The highly efficient horizontal evaporator unit ensures optimal energy transfer from the ambient air with the complex electronics and compressor safely inside, away from the weather. Combined with a large buffer tank this system makes no use of expensive immersion back up that most air source heat pumps rely on and maintains industry leading performance down to very low temperatures. Further complimenting this, Glendevon supplied a Solar PV system which means that grid supplied electricity is kept to a minimum.
