Energy Efficiency

Control Systems

Upgrading to renewable energy systems may not be immediately possible or practical, consequently there are other opportunities to improve the performance of existing oil and gas systems. With such systems it is possible to intelligently control the amount of time a heating system operates for, subsequently reducing its carbon emissions without reducing its heating performance.

Glendevon Energy supplies and installs a range of electronic control equipment that may often be retro-fitted to existing boilers, introducing many of the most modern efficiency techniques including outside weather compensation, sequencing and continuous monitoring of flow and return temperatures to match heating demand.

Savings of 15-40% are often achievable. Full payback is usually generated within two years, often far less. These systems are suitable for domestic and commerical boilers.

Consultancy

In planning projects where a new heating plant is to be introduced, we offer a pre-quote consultancy service to assess the thermal efficiency of a building and make improvement recommendations where applicable. This comes in the form of a SAP report, which is the government's 'Standard Assessment Procedure', now carried out on all new build projects and can be applied to current properties. SAP provides a simple means of reliably estimating the energy efficiency performance of dwellings. SAP ratings are expressed on a scale of 1 to 100, where the higher the number the better the rating. Thus SAP is similar to the fuel consumption of a car under standard driving conditions.

Such surveys often throw up relatively low cost solutions with short payback times that can significantly reduce the size and cost of installing equipment that might otherwise be recommended. Our surveys usually cost between £150 and £250.

Feasibility

Glendevon Energy offers feasibility studies to private and commercial customers. Projects have included advising property builders on the technology options available to replace oil and gas heating (CALA and HH Brown) and industrial property managers on the options to up-grade existing systems to incorporate renewables (McLoughlin and Harvey -managers of Marks and Spencer distribution sites -report in conjunction with Green Energy Partners 2007)
